On Sunday, December 8, 2024, Manovikas Charitable Society had the honor of hosting two remarkable personalities, Dr. Kiran Bedi, former Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry and Dr. Desh Keerti Menon a beloved teacher, and mentor, who have profoundly contributed to the journey of inclusion and empowerment. The day was filled with inspiring speeches, meaningful insights, and a shared vision of expanding opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Here's a recap of this extraordinary event.
Dr. Menon shared his invaluable thoughts on the future of Manovikas. He described our organization as a “joyful and lively” space, a sentiment that resonated deeply with all those in attendance. Dr. Menon emphasized the importance of expanding our reach, particularly by acquiring a larger space. His vision for Manovikas includes the need for a more inclusive environment, one that can cater to an even larger number of individuals with disabilities. He also urged the Society to focus on rural populations, ensuring that the benefits of inclusion and empowerment are extended to every corner of society. His words were a powerful reminder of our mission to create an inclusive world for all.
Dr. Kiran Bedi paid tribute to her late sister, describing how the “Atma (soul)” of Dr. Reeta Peshawaria continues to live on through the impactful work of Manovikas. She spoke passionately about the role Manovikas plays in empowering individuals with disabilities, and she expressed a deep desire to see our work flourish further. She shared her vision of establishing a new center for Manovikas in Uttar Pradesh and appealed to all attendees to support this noble cause. Her call for support to acquire land on lease for the new center was met with enthusiastic applause, reaffirming the collective commitment to the growth and success of Manovikas.
