The National Trust is a statutory body of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, set up under the “National Trust for the Welfare of Persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation and Multiple Disabilities” Act (Act 44 of 1999). The National Trust works towards providing opportunities for capacity development of Persons with Disability and their families, fulfilling their rights, facilitating and promoting the creation of an enabling environment and an inclusive society.

 

One of the objectives of the National Trust is to extend support to its registered organisations to provide need based services; and to evolve procedures for appointments of guardians and trustees for persons with disabilities.

 

As per section 12(1) of the National Trust Act any Voluntary Organization or the Association of Parents of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan) or the "Association of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), working in the field of Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation (Intellectual disability) and Multiple Disabilities" already registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860(21 of 1860), or section 25 of the Companies Act, 1956(1 of 1956), or as a Public Charitable Trust, under Persons With Disability (PWD)Act, 1995 or Revised Persons with Disabilities (RPWD) Act, 2016 in the concerned state, can apply for registration in National Trust.

 

The registration of such organization shall be necessary with the Trust for availing benefits under the schemes of the Trust. The State Nodal Agency Center, Delhi is inviting NGOs working for the empowerment of persons with disabilities to join this Training Programme on Saturday, November 13, 2021at 3.00pm to 5:00 pm in virtual mode.
