SMILE on ZOOM

Smile is an expression of happiness on the face. Manovikas Charitable Society with support of Home of Hope has truly established another meaning of smile. SMILE stands for Special Minds In Loving Environment. Nine volunteers from the USA connect with the persons with special abilities through ZOOM for joyful learning.We have a special session every Monday where more than 500 students from 11 states of India join through Zoom. This is an energetic beginning of the week. Participants enjoy dance, music,meditation, craft,drawing etc. Other sessions are Planned on basic English education for the persons with special needs.In the last ten months we have generated more than 85850 smiles through Zoom. Smiley face # Divya

Divya is one of the smiley faces of SMILE project.22 years old Divya is a real challenger with Down Syndrome. She lives in Hyderabad with her parents. She is passionate about dancing, singing.She loves glass painting. Her mother tongue is telugu. But in Smile session language is not a barrier because Smile sessions are based on Universal Design of Learing (UDL).Her smile is enough to be motivated.to generate more and more smile. A two way street

Kids in US are living in a decidedly advantaged world, entangled in all consuming materialism. Yes we are raising a generation that is over sheltered and living in a protected bubble. They don’t know hunger.. They may know the dictionary meaning of adversity yet they don’t know what it means in real life. They do not understand inability and they do know what is disability, let alone what it may mean to be disabled, more so being disabled in an underserved world.Parents here fuss over the tiniest scrape or scratch and kids are never allowed to experience pain or sorrow.
