On behalf of the State Nodal Agency Center (SNAC), Delhi, National Trust for the Welfare of Persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mental Retardation (Intellectual disability) and Multiple Disabilities Act (Act 44 of 1999), we are pleased to invite you to the “Orientation Programme on Appointments of Legal Guardians under Section 14 of the National Trust Act” that will be held on Thursday, 18 November 2021 at 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm online.
The objective of the National Trust in particular is to evolve procedures for appointments of legal guardians for persons with disabilities. Under Section 14 of the National Trust Act the application by a parent, relative or registered organisation for appointment of guardian for a person with disability shall be made to the local level committee (LLC). The LLC shall receive, process and decide applications received under sub-sections (1) and (2), in such manner as may be determined by regulations. Provided that while making recommendation for the appointment of a guardian, the LLC shall provide for the obligations which are to be fulfilled by the guardian.
It is mandatory as per Section 13(4) for LLCs to meet at least once in every three months or at such intervals as may be necessary. Hence there is no restriction to hold as many meetings as are necessary to decide on the applications for Guardianship in the interest of a person with disability.
The Orientation Programme is designed for the LLC Chairpersons- District Commissioners (DC), Representatives appointed by the DC, LLC Members as representative Registered Organisations, LLC Members under Category of Person with Disability and parents.
