Dr. Mereen Punnen

Dr Mereen Punnen is an esteemed behavioural scientist and Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) with extensive psychology and mental health expertise. Currently serving as the Director and Clinical Supervisor at the Reeta Peshawaria Center for Autism and ABA Services in Kerala, Dr. Punnen oversees two early intervention centres for children with autism and other developmental disabilities. She promotes inclusive education through Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles, enhancing learning experiences for children with special needs.

Dr. Punnen holds a Ph.D. in Behavioral Sciences from Martin Luther Christian University, Shillong, where her dissertation developed a Parent Training Program for children with ADHD in Kerala. Her background includes an M.Phil. in Counseling Psychology, where she explored family dynamics in individuals with personality disorders, and a B.Sc. (Honors) in Nursing from AIIMS, New Delhi, demonstrating her early commitment to health and counselling.

Her contributions extend beyond clinical practice. As an adjunct faculty member at Martin Luther Christian University and a research guide at TRADA College of Social Sciences, Dr. Punnen plays a pivotal role in shaping future professionals. She is a sought-after speaker and has presented her research at numerous national and state-level conferences, including critical discussions on autism interventions and mental health program promotion for schools.

Dr. Punnen’s impactful work in counselling, family therapy, and ABA has made her a recognised authority in disability support, education, and behavioural intervention strategies, especially for children with autism and ADHD. Her experience with legal and family welfare bodies, like the Mental Health Review Board in Kottayam and Kerala’s Women Cell, underscores her dedication to empowering families and individuals facing behavioural challenges.
