“Rangon Ki Virasat: The Legacy of Indian Culture”
On October 26, 2024 in Diwali Mela, the trainees of the Diploma in Special Education presented a play celebrating India’s diversity. The play highlighted four different states of India: Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Assam.
For Kashmir, the trainees talked about traditional items like the kangri (a traditional heating device), kahwa (a type of tea), pashmina shawls, and the famous Dal Lake. They also performed a traditional Kashmiri dance, dressed in beautifully designed costumes.
Next, they presented Tamil Nadu, discussing festivals like Pongal, the classical Bharatanatyam dance, and the importance of agriculture in the state.
In the part about Gujarat, the trainees introduced popular foods like jalebi and fafda, showcased the garba dance, talked about the traditional chaniya choli attire, and mentioned the local language.
Finally, they portrayed Assam, known for Assam silk, the Bihu dance, and its traditional occupations.
The entire play was excellently scripted by Sahil Abbas, and each trainee played their role wonderfully.
