24 years Adya Verma, before COVID-19 was working at Springdales School as a teacher’s assistant on an ad-hoc basis.
She did her schooling from nursery to class 9 in an inclusive set-up from Springdales School, Pusa Road, Delhi. Afterwards, she pursued class 10 and class 12 from NIOS. During her studies, she participated in Bocci, Race, Badminton and Shot-put games held by Special Olympics, and won many medals. She also participated in painting competitions organized by Very Special Arts of India and won cash prizes twice.
After completing her schooling in 2017, she was trained to work in a school set-up at home. Simultaneously, she got training in drawing and painting from a professional at home.
In August 2018, she joined as a trainee in (Learning Centre) Springdales School where she studied up to class 9. Since July 2019, she worked there as a teacher’s assistant on an ad-hoc basis till March 2020, when due to the COVID-19 pandemic normal offline teaching was stopped.
Nowadays, she is pursuing her hobbies like painting, knitting and embroidery. She can do very simple cooking like making daal-chaawal, kneading dough, making chapatis and paranthas and making vegetables in a pressure cooker including cutting independently.
At present, she is looking forward to going to work again. She enjoys attending online sessions, such as Sachetan, Smile and Manbhavan, conducted by the Manovikas Charitable Society.
