Introduction to VDMT
Background of the VDMT program:
Vedic Dance and Music Therapy (VDMT) can be incorporated into many different environments. Vedic and Dance and Music therapy use music to promote healing and enhance the quality of life. It’s a complementary therapy that is used to help patients cope mentally and physically with their diagnosis. It provides a way for people to cope with emotional conflicts and increase self-awareness. Dance activity will depict the synchronization of body movements. Sound and music are considered to play a potential medium/intermediary role to achieve a deeper unity with both the outer and inner cosmos.
Vedic Dance and the Music therapy (VDMT), basically based on different activities related to Rasa, is about the human state of mind. An aura is an energy field that is emitted from all living things. The aura is seen as layers of colour around the subject that change the entire inner self of the individual. These all concepts develop the positive body image, improve self-concept and self-esteem, reduce stress, anxiety, and depression, decrease isolation, chronic pain, and body tension increase communication skills encourage a sense of well-being.
Vedic Dance and Music tradition is sacred from Indian Mythology and fascinatingly describes gods, men, animals and their emotions.
Aims and Objectives of Vedic Dance & Music therapy (VDMT):
- To differentiate basic therapeutic use of Vedic Dance and Music Therapy (VDMT) in the relief or healing of spiritual, environmental, and physical pains.
- To customize the Vedic naad, music and chantings for enhancing the quality of life and treatment intended to relieve pain especially in the case of IDD.
- To transform through elements of Vedic movement, expressions and mudras.
