The Aims and Objectives of the NWSSA:
- Prioritise the need for sexual self-advocacy for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Develop the confidence and skills among educators to start training in sexual self-advocacy.
- Illustrate the sexual self-advocacy Model.
Desired Outcomes :
1.1. Prioritise the need for sexual self-advocacy for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
1.1.1. Recognise the Importance of Sexual Self Advocacy for people with disabilities.
1.1.2. Prioritise the Right to live Independently in a safe community for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
2.1.Develop the confidence and skills among educators to start training in sexual self-advocacy.
2.1.1. Improve ability to communicate effectively and to make responsible decisions.
2.1.2. Originate the sexual development, personal space boundaries or hygiene and self-care during puberty for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
2.1.3. Utilize knowledge and become more comfortable and confident when dealing with sexual self-advocacy for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
3.1.Illustrate sexual self-advocacy Model.
3.1.1.Describe the right of the persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities to make their own choices.
3.1.2.Speak-up for the rights, and be able to make choices and decisions.
3.1.3.Originate the strategic plan and influence for implementation of rights of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
